Surgery was March 4th, 2003
I'm happy to report that Doreen is doing very well after surgery! Thank you Jim and everyone else for keeping me updated. I was getting a bit concerned when I didn't hear right away so I started calling a bunch of Hospitals in Michigan. Never did find you Doreen! But now I know where you are and I know you're o.k. so I'm thanking God as always for taking care of you! Love ya Doreen, Jackie
Here's Jim's notes from the email:
This is Doreens husband Jim, Doreen wanted me to tell you that she is doing great, she was in surgery on Tuesday for seven hours, there were complications due to the initial surgery that the surgeon had to deal with, plus the removal of her gall bladder that had turned green due to the bile which was having a poisonous effect on her whole system, but her whole demeanor has changed, she`s like a new woman. We talked with the surgeon two weeks ago about the revision process and he was a little skeptical about doing it, he said he would try his best, so this morning when he came in to see her he was so pleased about how the surgery went and Doreen`s recovery that he had a huge grin from ear to ear, which is unusual for Dr Foote.
Thanks,
JimBy the way - the pic above was taken March 1st, 2003, just 3 days before Doreen's surgery. What a trooper! ~Jackie
Love your background song Doreen. This is for you:
Lyrics to What A Wonderful World
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world. The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Welcome Home Doreen!
O.k. Doreen, you can remove this pic if you want, but I just had to post it when I saw how much you've changed since Sept. 2002. What an inspiration for all of us who are considering the surgery ourselves!!

Hi! everyone sorry it has been a while since I updated this site. I am doing well but I get tired easily and have been very nauseated so I don't sit at the computer long. I promise this weekend I will add to this site.
April 3
HI! Sorry everyone that I haven't updated like I should be doing. A couple of things are going- first I am tired most of the time. I am trying to take it easy but my mind keeps going a hundred miles an hour and I want to keep busy but my body says no way. I am not in any pain and that I am very thankful for and thank God daily for the blessings He has provided for me.
The second thing is during the 2nd surgery my Vagus nerve in my stomach was damaged. This is quite common in a difficult operation like mine. But what that means is that I am nauseated bost of the time which my surgeon is trying to control with medication and that I have to keep a tube in my stomach (G-Tube) for at least 2 more months perhaps 6 months. As I said I am truly thankful for all my blessings but I am still battling the "poor me" syndrome. I am trying not to become bitter towards the so called doctor who did my first surgery but it is a chore!!! It has been a grueling 7 months!
Good news I am down 141 pounds. I am getting there. Hey here is an assignment for you all! Look for a picture of a hummingbird for me to use as my tattoo. If I choice your picture I will send you a surprize.
One more week and Jim and I will be heading towards Florida. Look at animals at Busch Gardens I am coming to see you. I can't wait to feed the giraffes.
Love to all Doreen
