CASH
AND CARRY
Q - I
have some products I would like to sell. Can I take them to a
show and sell them?
A - Yes you can, but to be fair to the hostess you need to order
a GC or product on his/her show for the amount of sales, so the
hostess does not lose any benefit from these sales.

CLEANING
SNOWBALL CANDLES
Q
- How do you clean the snowball candles?
A - Karen writes: "I did
an outdoor festival and all my product got filthy from the dust
storms. I made the comment that I didn't know how I'd get my
snowball candle clean. It was also dirty from my not trimming
the wick enough, before I was a consultant. My eleven year old
son suggested we hose it off with the spray hose on the kitchen
sink. It worked beautifully! I just had to share this,
in case anyone else could use the idea."

CONTESTS
AND PROMOTIONS
Q-
Is there anywhere online that will tell me the current contest and
promotion information?
A - Yes, this is also posted on the Extranet
after the mailers have been shipped.
CREDIT
CARDS
Q -
How do I take a credit card order over the phone?
A - In the Credit Card box, just sign "per phone
order"
Q -
Can they use a debit card to pay for their order?
A - Yes they can. If it has the Visa or MC symbol on
it, it can be treated as a charge card on the order form, but will
be debited from their bank account or however they have it setup
with their financial institution.
DISCOUNTS,
BUY 1-GET 1 FREE, ETC.
Q - I
want to offer my potential hostesses a discount or item for booking.
How can I do this?
A - The best way is to order it when you close their show using
the Personal Bonus option. This
way, you won't be giving away free product or offers until the
booking has actually been held. Please read the Personal
Bonus information for more details.
DOWNLOADING
Q -
How do I download files from tealited?
A - To download files from tealited, you'll need to have
MSOffice 97 or newer version. I try to upload all files in 97
format. If your version is older than 97, it won't work.
Another trick is to right click on the link for the file and save it
to your hard drive. Then you can open the file in the correct
software program.
Q- I
have the current version of MSOffice and still cannot open the
files. Any other suggestions?
A - Yes, this suggestion comes from Valerie: Say you want
to open an Excel file. Open your Excel software. Now
click "File", "Open". In the box for the
filename, type the URL (link) for the actual file. Now click
open. It may ask for a password. Just click cancel, and
then open again. You will get a message saying you don't have
permission to download, but would you like to import a read only
copy? Click yes. This will import a copy from the
internet to your program. You can then "save as" to your
hard drive.
Q - I
don't have MSOffice in any version. Am I just out of luck?
A - No. The great thing is, you can download a
"viewer" for any MS format I post on tealited.
Excel, Word, etc. I have a link on each of my pages containing
these files for the free viewers to download. Or, you can click
here to download.
Q -
What about the .pdf files?
A - There is a free viewer for this also. Click
here or follow the link listed on tealited on pages containing
these types of files.
Q -
How can I save a picture I see on tealited?
A - Right click on the pic and choose save as, or save picture.
This will load it on your hard drive for later use. Be sure
you note where it saves it to on your hard drive!
DUAL
HOSTESS SHOWS
Thank you Sheila for your help with this category
Q -
What is a "dual hostess show"?
A - A dual hostess show is when 2 Hostesses go together and have
1 show!
Q
- What can they receive as dual hostesses?
A - Each host/hostess
may purchase 1 each of the hostess specials and 1 half price item
for every $200 in sales.
Each show only needs 1 booking to get the 25% credit, which is
split.
As an example: If the show closes at $400.00 with one
or more bookings, they will split between them the $100.00 hostess
credit or $50.00 each.
They can each purchase one half-price item. (One half price item per
hostess for every $200.00 in comp. sales) For a $400.00 show, they
will each get to purchase 2 half price items if they choose.
They can each purchase one each of the hostess specials if they
choose.
If they get more than 1 booking, they can either split the credit
for that once the shows qualify, or one can receive the booking
gift.
Q
- How do I write up the show summary for this?
A - Enter
the names as: Smith/Jones
Deb/Mary. I write at the top of my show summary in BIG
writing: DUAL HOSTESS SHOW! I also note this beside the
Hostess Specials area and half price area.
Everything else remains the same as a normal show. When you
figure up what they each owe from the Hostess Credit and specials, I
find it easier to do this on a separate sheet of paper just for your
files and a copy for them, so it's split up and they will each know
exactly what they owe and what they will receive. On the
actual show summary, everything is combined.
Q -
How do I enter a dual hostess on the Extranet?
A - As of now, Sept. 2002, you cannot enter dual hostess shows
on the Extranet.
GIFT
CERTIFICATES
Q
- This question comes from Heather:
Gift certificates. how can they be
used? Specifically, can a hostess use her gift certificate to add to
her hostess credit for purchases? Example: Hostess has GC for 50.00
and receives 60.00 in hostess credit. Can she combine for a
total of $110.00 in product? how do you write this up if so?
A - Gift Certificates may be redeemed on a different show under
the Hostess Credit section only. Enter the GC number and
amount on line 4 of the hostess credit section. Include this
amount with the total credit due the hostess. Enclose the GC
with the show for redemption.
Note: JoMarie brought this to my attention. They
or whoever purchased the GC paid tax and shipping on the amount of
the GC when they purchased it. If they use it as part of their
Hostess Credit, they will be paying tax and shipping on this GC again.
JoMarie discovered this and didn't charge a hostess for the extra
tax, but yet HO turned around and charged her acct. for that amount.
She got it straightened out, but it took some calling. I for
one, will just suggest the hostess redeem her GC separately.
Q-
How else can they be redeemed?
A - By filling out the GC and mailing it to PL
Q-
I'm a consultant. What if I have a GC and order something for
more than the amount of the GC? Can I pay my consultant price
for the amount due?
A - Yes. I don't know of any particular way this has to be
listed on the GC, so I just put the amount due, then below it, on
the same line, the amount due split in half. I then put an
arrow out to the left of that pointing to my Cons. ID number so HO
knows a consultant is ordering this. I then pay the discounted
balance and any tax due.
Q - I
took some cash and carry to a recent show where I sold $100.00 in
product. I ordered a GC from this show so the hostess would
receive credit. I'm anxious to redeem the GC. Is there a
quick way to do this?
A - Yes! As soon as the show is processed, it will be
posted on CBC, along with the GC number issued.
Fill out a ROF and for the items ordered section, list the
product(s) you want. In the Items to be returned
section, list the GC and the number for it as posted on CBC.
Ask your leader what she prefers you do with the GC once it's
received. Some will have you discard it since it's already
been redeemed (which helps when the GC is being shipped to a hostess
you don't know very well or lives far from you). However, some
may request that you send it back to HO with the pink copy of the
ROF attached. So bottom line - ask your leader.
PERSONAL
BONUS
Q -
What is Personal Bonus?
A - A way to order product at half price on a show so it can be
shipped to the hostess along with items ordered by guests.
This is helpful when you offer something like Buy 1, get 1 Free.
Remember, you'll have to pay the half price due unless you offered
it to your hostess as a get 1 at half-price type offer.
Q -
Is there a limit on how much I can use for Personal Bonus?
A - No there isn't. It also doesn't have to be the
amount for a specific product. However, do not abuse this
right - use Personal Bonus to "treat" those extra special
hostesses!
PICTURES
ON TEALITED
Q -
Do I need your permission to use the pics from tealited?
A - No. Not if you are using them to further your business
as a direct sales consultant with PL by way of home shows.
They are free to anyone wanting to use them for postcards, flyers,
etc. However, you CANNOT use the pics on tealited to
list an item in an auction or for sale on the net.
Please do not post tealited info on any website unless you have my
permission to do so.
SHIPPING
CERTAIN ITEMS TO ANOTHER PLACE OTHER THAN SHOW ADDRESS
Q
- How can I have an order sent to someone at a different address
other than the shipping address for the show?
A - Order a gift certificate
on a show for the amount of the order. Get the GC# from CBC
as soon as it's entered and redeem the GC with an ROF. On the
ROF, have it shipped where you want it to go. Simply put the
"Items ordering" as what the person ordered. In the
"Items to be returned" put GC and the number for it.
TRACKING
ON THE INTERNET
Q
- How do I track a Gift Certificate?
A - Log on to CBC
by entering your 7 digit cons. ID in the box on the sign-in page.
Click "login". On the next page, in the second box,
which says "Gift Certificates", enter the GC number.
This is located at the top right of the GC. Click
"Check". Note: You can only track this if the GC is in
your name. If the GC is in another consultants name or HO
account, you can't track it via the internet.
Q
- How do I track a Gift Certificate if I didn't write the number
down before I mailed it?
A - You
can't track it without the number. However, if you purchased
the GC through a show you did, go to CBC and
track that original show. The GC number will be listed there.
Q - How
do I track Booking Gifts?
A - Replace the first number of the show with a 9.
Example:
Original Show # 0001234567
then Booking Gift # would be 0009234567
If the original show # starts with a 9, for instance 0009234567,
then booking gift # would be 0009934567
Q - How
do I track a COF?
A - Log on to CBC
by entering your 7 digit cons. ID in the box on the sign-in page. Click
"login". On the next page, in the first box which says
"Order Status", enter the Consultant Order Form number in this
format: 0000123456. Your COF will have a number like P123456. You
must have 10 digits to check the status of a COF, so you just add enough
zero's in front of the number (dropping the letter P) to make it a 10-digit
number. Click "Check".
Note: Denise emailed me to say that the above method does not work for
her, but this method does: If the COF number is P123456, she enters it
on CBC as P000123456. So if one method
doesn't work for you, try the other.
Q - How
do I track a ROF?
A - Log on to CBC
by entering your 7 digit cons. ID in the box on the sign-in page. Click

0000123456. Your ROF will have a number like R
123456. You must have 10 digits to check the status of a ROF, so you
just add enough zero's in front of the number (dropping the letter R)
to make it a 10-digit number.

the month you want to check. Next click "Check".
Q - I
tracked an order and the Pillarnet says package was damaged & returned to
shipper. What should I do?
A - DeLean from BoB had first hand experience with this. She
states: "Don't think when it gets back to Plymouth, Ma, they will resend
package because they don't! You need to call your leader and tell them what
the tracking numbers are and what was in the package, so she can call and have
it resent!
I had this happen and I waited 3 weeks for them to reship it. Then I call my
leader to find out that they don't reship until she calls! ....Logic said when
they received it back they would replace the order and resend it, after all
they have the damaged goods and the address it was going to right?
Wrong." So call your leader right away if this happens to you!
WAX
& SOOT REMOVAL TIPS AND TRICKS
Q - How do I
remove wax from carpet?
A - Place a brown paper bag over the wax. Using a moderately hot
iron, iron over the bag to melt the wax. The bag will absorb the wax.
If there is a large amount of wax, you'll need to use several bags as they
become saturated with wax.
Please note: If you do this, test a piece of carpet first in a hidden
area to insure it can handle the heat without melting the fibers.
Idea submitted 2/26/03 by
Karen: Goo Gone also
takes wax out of carpets! "I spilled purple wax from a 3-Wick onto
my white carpet and it took it right out. I put the Goo Gone on a soft
cloth and rubbed onto the carpet. Works wonders."
Q - How
do I remove wax from a tablecloth?

the wax. Using a moderately hot iron, iron over the bag to melt the wax.

Q - How
do I remove soot from a frosted glass holder?
A - Some of the suggestions I have
collected from the http://www.bestofboards.com
message board are: Toothpaste, a product called "Goo Gone", "Fantastik"
cleaner. Latest suggestion is to use "Oxy Clean". Several have
vouched for it's effectiveness - especially for frosted cups. Note:
I wouldn't suggest using the nail polish remover if it has acetone in it.
For this reason, I removed it from the list. I have also removed rubbing
alcohol because someone on BoB (sorry, forgot to note the name) said it
actually removes a layer each time you use it on glass, and she sounded very
knowledgeable, so I'm not suggesting that method any longer.
More great suggestions!:
Jeanette Giancaspro writes:
"You can tell I have kids (lol) -- I find baby wipes very effective.
I mean, if they're gentle enough for babies, why not PL products? They
really do work nicely. Just be sure to "pat dry after wiping," but
omit the powder :)."
Marianna writes: "I just had to remove a burn mark off the savannah Lamp
and a little comet on a wet cloth and it scrubbed right off and didn't
scratch. Maybe soft scrub would work too?"
Tiffany
Burgess writes: To clean wax from Crystal and Frosted Glass:
"First fill with hot water to remove the large amount of wax. Let
cool to room temperature. Remove the wax floating on the top. Then
take a warm damp rag, a terry cloth rag would work best, and dip into baking
soda.
Scrub the baking soda around in a circular motion. Rinse and repeat if
necessary. I first tried it on my quilted crystal pair. WOW!!! Did they
shine!!! Then I tried my Lotus Blossom, Incredible!!!! They look brand
new."
Q- How do I
remove wax from a wood table?
A - I have found the best way to do this is to scrape the wax off with a
plastic spatula, or one of the PC pan scrapers. Then, I follow that with
a good PledgeTM waxing of the table.
More
great suggestions!:
Linda Moreen writes: "I have found that if you use Avon Skin So SoftTM
it will take off wax that is spilt on counter tops or tables."
Cynthia
Bell writes: "I use a product from Wal-Mart called DeSolve-It.
It comes in a spray bottle and is non-Toxic. They even used it in Alaska
for the big oil spill! This product is great for any wax removal.
I experienced this when my son put a crayon in his pocket and it went into the
dryer. Wax on everything. I used DeSolve-It on the wax, washed in
warm water, and to my surprise took all the crayon out! It is awesome!
- I even use it on my display tablecloths when wax accidentally gets on
them!"
Q - How do I
remove wax stains from terra cotta?
A - This is a tough one so I sought out the help of my fellow BoB
family.
Candleprincess75 said "this may sound crazy but I used water pipe cleaner
that I found at a local smoke shop and it looks as good as new (Dr. Greens was
the cleaner name)"
Here's a
helpful tip about terra cotta:
Amyb writes: If
you spray your terra cotta pieces with Pam cooking spray before putting them
outside, it helps keep the green off the bottom and helps repel wax spills. It
doesn't work 100% w/ the wax."
